State Alzheimer’s Disease Plan Resource Center

As a growing number of states begin to develop and implement state level plans to address Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, the Alzheimer’s Association created the State Alzheimer’s Disease Plan Resource Center to collect and curate innovative implementation activities across the country.

Designed as both a clearinghouse and how-to guide of community and state government-based activity, the Resource Center is for state legislators, state agency staff, community organizations, and individuals to view progress on state Alzheimer’s disease plan implementation.

The Resource Center will continue to grow as communities around the nation address Alzheimer’s disease, the fastest-growing public health crisis of the 21st century.

Formerly The National Alzheimer’s Project: From Act to Action (napa.alz.org), as of June 2015, this site now serves as the State Alzheimer’s Disease Plan Resource Center.  Updates to the National Alzheimer’s Plan will continue to be posted here, under the “National” section as well as coverage of federal implementation activities.

The National Alzheimer’s Project: From Act to Action

The National Alzheimer’s Project: From Act to Action was an effort to support a committed and effective implementation of the National Alzheimer’s Project Act (NAPA). Information collected from individuals living with the disease, caregivers, providers and other stakeholders was shared with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which was responsible for creating and implementing a national strategy to address the crisis and coordinate across government agencies. This project was facilitated and supported by the Alzheimer’s Association. Read a timeline of past events here.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and NAPA implementation

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is responsible for implementing the National Alzheimer’s Project Act (NAPA). For more information on NAPA implementation by HHS, the NAPA Advisory Council, or to comment on the national strategy, please visit http://aspe.hhs.gov/daltcp/napa/.
